Magnesium-Supplemente / Nebeneffekte

- Vorsicht ist bei der Einnahme einer Supplementation bei eingeschränkter Nierenfunktion geboten, da überschüssiges Magnesium nicht ausgeschieden werden kann (22).
- Ebenso sollte die Wechselwirkung einer Magnesiumsupplementation mit anderer Medikation beachtet werden. Beispielsweise sollte eine Magnesiumsupplementation von der Verwendung oraler Biphosphate (zur Behandlung von Osteoporose) um 2 Stunden getrennt werden um eine Dämpfung der Wirkung zu verhindern (26).
- Zusätzlich dazu sollten antibiotische Medikamente aus der Tetracyclin-Gruppe (z. B. Doxycyclin) entweder 2 Stunden davor oder 6 Stunden danach eingenommen werden (27). Medikamente wie kalium-sparende Diuretika (z. B. Spironolakton) senken die Häufigkeit von Ausscheidungen von überflüssigem Magnesium- aus diesem Grund ist Vorsicht geboten, um Vergiftungen zu vermeiden.
